What we did

• •After reviewing the existing architecture, we chose a focused rebuild rather than continuing to patch a flawed foundation. Starting from a simplified repository, we recreated the application with React and TypeScript on the front end and Node.js with Express on the back end, establishing a consistent structure for future development.
• •We added end-to-end type safety to catch problems earlier and keep data contracts clear. Prisma supplied typed database access, tsoa produced OpenAPI-driven server controllers, and OpenAPI Generator created frontend clients from the same specification. This kept the browser app and API aligned while reducing avoidable integration errors.
• •We built the browser experience with Tailwind CSS, Radix UI, TanStack Query, and React Hook Form. This stack provided reusable interface elements, structured form handling, and a consistent approach to fetching and caching legislative data, making the application easier to refine as its feature set evolved.
• •The product supports bill tracking before legislation is passed and uses AI to generate summaries of new measures. We placed those capabilities on top of the new architecture rather than treating generated code as a substitute for engineering review, helping the team move quickly while keeping quality and maintainability in view.
• •We continued as senior development partners by reviewing the client’s code changes and guiding implementation decisions. That process let the client contribute directly while limiting the return of technical debt. The rebuilt application reached a production-ready state, supported the product launch, and left the team with a clearer base for ongoing development.
